During the roaring '20s, PET began offering fresh dairy products, like ice cream and butter. From a single milk processing plant in Johnson City, Tenn., the service area grew all across the Southeast. In 1941, PET was called on to supply soldiers fighting in World War II. More recipes, specifically designed with rationing in mind, were created to help citizens eat a wholesome diet.
Over the next half century, the PET Milk Company continued to acquire local dairies and creameries to meet the demand for fresh milk and dairy products. Eventually, the Dairy Division split and grew into a multimillion-dollar business, employing over 3,000 people in 10 Southeastern states. Not too bad for a little milk company with a cow on the can.
Today, PET Dairy is 100% owned by family farmers who are proud to bring you the simple pleasures of real dairy. It's a hands-on connection that makes every glass of milk a little creamier, every bowl of ice cream a little sweeter. You can taste real goodness in all PET Dairy's offerings, like white and flavored milk, butter, cream and cultured products, plus our famous ice cream and frozen novelties.
